Future Now 2012, an annual exhibition of Victorian College of the Arts honours graduates. The Substation in association with the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) is touring the Future Now exhibition. Curator, Jessica Bridgfoot, Visual Arts Program Manager, The Substation
Originally shown at The Substation gallery in Newport, Melbourne in 2012, we are pleased to be presenting this exhibition as one of the three regional locations. When the tour finishes it will have traveled from Melbourne, Castlemaine to Cowwarr.
The work presented is diverse in its material and presentation; video, painting, drawings, installation, However, the common element through all of the artist’s works is their site specificity and their activation and questioning of our bodies awareness of space. The artists will install each of their works in response to the different buildings in which the exhibition is shown over the course of the tour thus allowing new connections to the viewers and artists perceptions to be uncovered and taken advantage of.
FREE PUBLIC PROGRAM
17th/18th of May, during the exhibition artist Catherine Evans will run a workshop for the Cowwarr Primary school on the 17th and on the 18th it is open to the general public under 18 and the Junior Gippsland Art Gallery Members (Geckos). These workshops will include an introduction to the exhibition, and then a session of plaster casting with Artists Catherine Evans.
