Claire thanks Monash University Travel Grant and the Gippsland Gallery Sale for there support and assistance in enabling her to take up this residency.
Claire has selected three young regional Gippsland Artist and three metro Melbourne Artists to forge new partnerships and traverse new geographical and ideological terrain. The participating artists work across diverse media and it is through a process of workshops and visual communications, that the paired artists will create new collaborative works exploring their relationship to their socio-cultural landscape and notions of territory, boundary and environmental politics.
DATE: SATURDAY 13TH OCTOBER 2007 VENUE: COWWARR ART SPACE
Italo-Australian, Vince Marino, demonstrated the family tradition, of producing classic Italian Smallgoods. Nonna & Nonno and Uncle Tony got into the act with Hand Made Cheese, Pasta and the classic Home Baked Bread. The day was topped of with tastings of the completed produce washed down with liberal amounts of Local Gippsland Wines from; Narkoojee, Tyler and Holley Hill Wineries. The capacity crowd were totally enthusiastic about the event. I was going to try and get some written instruction for the various recipes. But I discovered, it is a hands on process. All done by feel on the day. You will all have to wait for the next Slow Food Event. For more information on other events in Gippsland and Victoria visit the Slow Food Web Site
The Cowwarr Art Space and CAN Inc had great delight in presenting a performance of the Phonos Project. This was a unique opportunity for the region to see what has sparked the national interest in the unique work of The Phonos Project; a contemporary chamber ensemble that specialises in new works, where dance and theatrics are regarded as equal elements to the overall art form that is choreographic music. It is even more exciting to know that these young artists forging a career in the contemporary classical music scene all originated from Gippsland.
The performance was supported by GAL 1. Regional Arts Victoria
