Cowwarr is a small village on the Traralgon Maffra Road. Your journey takes you across the Red Gum Plains, through the prime dairy country created by the rich river systems of the Thompson, Macalister and Latrobe Rivers, that flow from the Gippsland High Country to ultimately form part of the Gippsland Lakes.
You travel through the small rural hamlets of Glengarry, Toongabbie, Heyfield, Maffra and Stratford, with the Great Dividing Range as a back drop spread out towards the North. If you are energetically inclined you may choose to travel on the Rail Trail from Traralgon to Cowwarr and have a close encounter with the rural country side.
We are a pleasant interlude on your journey, to or from your high country trip, your coastal holiday or your Australian adventure along the Melbourne to Sydney Costal Drive. You find us on the High Country Mountain Rivers Scenic Route 91 (brown signage) a loop drive off the Princes Highway on the C105 road (green & gold signage) Enter from either Stratford, Sale, Rosedale or Traralgon. With the improvements of the Princes Highway it is now a very easy 2 hour drive from the centre of Melbourne. |
